Odirile Makaku is a self-taught digital artist who creates art on her phone, currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa, who enjoys a majority of mediums in the creative world. As an artist, she believes that art is more like a religion, a spiritual journey where insanity meets illusion.
Her body of work revolves around a repetitive cycle of personal rebirth and healing. Where the process of patience and emotional protection brings eternal balance. Her work’s narrative stems from mental health disorders, as she’s struggled with depression and anxiety, Odirile has made it a point to reflect on mental health issues faced in this day and age, while the world is rapidly moving all we can do is try our best to move at our own pace.
