Canadian born artist Alexander Hawkins has worked and exhibited internationally in Canada, China, Europe and the United States. His interdisciplinary practice and international education has afforded him training in a multitude of mediums including lithography, intaglio, painting and sculpture. Alexander’s approach to his studio practice permits him to work across these materials to explore broad concepts and ideas, instead allowing the work to dictate the relevant medium for any given project. Hawkins’ current work focuses primarily on ephemeral moments, language and the process of how history is remembered and told. These themes frequently intertwine and stitch together building larger narratives that emphasize the importance of every aspect of human interaction. Alexander’s studio practice spills out into his arts administrative practice where he also works as a curator creating a volume of exhibitions in the past 5 years. He is currently completing his Bachelor of Fine Art in Sculpture at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
